Itinerary
Excursion to Cherrapunjee (60 kms|approx 3 hours drive one way)
After an early breakfast, drive to Cherrapunjee (altitude: 4,400 ft.), renowned as the wettest place on Earth. During your visit, you will witness the majestic Nohkalikai Falls, one of India’s tallest and most beautiful waterfalls. You will also explore the famous Mawsmai Caves, known for their impressive limestone formations. En route back to Shillong, stop at Elephanta Falls. Return to Shillong by evening. Overnight stay at the hotel in Shillong.
Full Day Excursion to Jowai (110 kms |approx 4-5 hours drive one way)
After an early breakfast, embark on a full-day excursion to Jowai, the headquarters of the Jaintia Hills District, located 66 km from Shillong along the Shillong-Silchar National Highway. This scenic town is encircled by the Myntdu River and was once the summer capital of the Jaintia Kings of Sutnga State.During the excursion, visit the spectacular Krang Suri Falls, one of the most magical waterfalls in India. You will also explore the Tryshi Waterfalls, where a bridge connects the waterfall to lush green paddy fields, offering breathtaking panoramic views of Pynthor Nein.Later, stop at Thadlaskein Lake, where you can enjoy a leisurely boat ride(on direct payment basis). Continue your journey to Nartiang, home to ancient Menhirs, monolithic stones standing tall at 27 feet, representing the megalithic culture of the Hynniewtrep people. Also, visit the 500-year-old Durga Temple at Nartiang before returning to Shillong in the evening. Overnight stay at your hotel in Shillong.
Excursion to Dawki & Mawlynnong (120 kms|approx 4-5 hours drive one way)
After breakfast, depart for Dawki, a small town near the India-Bangladesh border. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the Umangot River, known for its crystal-clear waters. Proceed to Mawlynnong, Asia's cleanest village, renowned for its pristine surroundings and well-maintained environment.In Mawlynnong, explore the Living Root Bridge and witness the unique natural phenomenon of a boulder balancing atop a smaller rock. You will also have the opportunity to interact with the local community, known for their hospitality and dedication to maintaining the village's cleanliness.In the evening, drive back to Shillong.Note: It is advisable to carry a packed lunch as the journey is long. Overnight stay at your hotel in Shillong.
Shillong – Departure to Guwahati (100 kms |approx 3 hour drive)
After breakfast, check out from your hotel and transfer to Guwahati Airport or Railway Station for your onward journey. Note: If your flight/train departure time allows, a half-day sightseeing tour of Shillong can be arranged, depending on your arrival or departure schedule.
